I have examined the accompanying Ordinance intituled

An Ordinance to authorise the Bank of Canton Limited to

convert ita silver capital into gold,

of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary to the

Governor's Instructions.

The object of this Ordinance is to enable the Bank of Canton Limited to convert its silver capital into gold by a special resolu-

tion to that effect to be passed by the shareholders.

The Capital of the Company is $2,000,000 Hongkong Curreno and regulations as to increasing it are contained in Article 14 of the

Articles of Assdoiation.
